  The OPPO BDP-83 Special Edition Blu-ray Disc Player is an exciting upgrade based on the highly acclaimed BDP-83. Already well known for its exceptional audio and video performance, the BDP-83 is upgraded with an all new analog audio stage and improved power supply to become the Special Edition. Designed for the discerning audio enthusiast, the OPPO BDP-83 Special Edition Blu-ray Disc Player delivers an exceptionally wide dynamic range, ultra low distortion, accurate sound stage and jitter-free music clarity via its dedicated stereo and 7.1ch analog audio output.
  
  The OPPO BDP-83 Special Edition uses the state-of-the-art Sabre32 family of Digital-to-Analog Converters (DAC) from ESS Technology. The Sabre32 family is known as one of the industry's highest performance audio DACs and are often found in high-end audiophile and professional equipment. The OPPO BDP-83 Special Edition uses an 8-channel Sabre Premier (ES9006) DAC chip for its 7.1 multi-channel output. The dedicated stereo output uses another 8-channel Sabre32 Ultra (ES9016) DAC chip by stacking 4 DACs for each of the Left and Right channels to achieve even greater audio performance.
  
  Just like the BDP-83 it is based on, the OPPO BDP-83 Special Edition is a Profile 2.0 Blu-ray player featuring bit-stream and full decoding capability for high resolution audio tracks such as Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. Designed for both home theatre viewers and music listeners, it plays DVD-Video, DVD-Audio, Super Audio CD (SACD) and standard CD with excellent video and audio performance in addition to Blu-ray Discs.   OPPO Digital recommends the BDP-83 Special Edition to customers who primarily use the analog audio output to connect to either a dedicated stereo or a multi-channel surround system. For customers who primarily use the HDMI output to connect to an A/V receiver or directly to a TV/projector, and for customers who primarily use the optical/coaxial digital audio output, the standard BDP-83 is recommended

BDP-83 Special Edition Upgrade

• Please read all information carefully!

• The Special Edition enhances only the analog audio connection (Stereo, 5.1ch or 7.1ch). This upgrade does not enhance the HDMI output. If you use HDMI as your only audio connection, then OPPO do not recommend this upgrade.

• This option is only for BDP-83 users who purchased their player from us before November 9, 2009. A sales receipt with the date clearly shown must be included with your BDP-83 (alternatively a Google Checkout or PayPal transaction number is sufficient proof of purchase)

• The upgrade will involve the replacing of the following parts from the customer's original player:

• 1. Audio Board
  2. Power Supply Board
  3. Back Panel with RS232 port

• With the upgrade, the audio performance will be identical to the Special Edition player. However, the upgrade does not include replacing the front panel since it does not affect audio performance. As a result, there will be no “Special Edition” mark printed on the front panel. A Special Edition decal sticker will be provided for you to optionally place on the front panel.

• We do not offer a trade-in program. We suggest existing customers sell their BDP-83 privately or on eBay and then purchase a brand-new BDP-83SE if they want an official BDP-83SE.

• We require existing BDP-83 owners to ship their BDP-83 to our facility at their cost and pay the upgrade cost in advance. Note that we are not responsible for any units lost or damaged while in transit to us so please sufficiently insure the shipment. Your player must be shipped in it's original protective packing and box with no accessories included. Upgraded players are shipped back at our cost by the same method as used when your bought your player (Parcel Force 24 in the UK and Parcel Force Euro 48 in the European Union).

• Warranty for upgraded units are extended by resetting the clock - the 12 month time period for your warranty starts all over again from the day your upgraded unit is delivered back to you.

• Your BDP-83 with SE upgrade will be returned with the latest firmware loaded and the player reset to factory defaults.

• After placing your order for the upgrade, you will receive an e-mail with an RMA number and instructions for sending your BDP-83 to us.
